The Best Goal Setting Tip

The best goal setting tip is open to suggestion!

You all know in your own mind what goals you have set and where you want to go, but do you ever wonder which goal-setting tip to use, or wonder which one is the one that’s going to make it happen for you.

I find the subject of goal setting covers such a wide range of techniques, ideas, strategies and templates that sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees.

I think the best goal setting tip to give anyone is to make sure you have a real burning desire to achieve something. Without that desire you won’t have the motivation to succeed, in whatever area of life you want to succeed in. This is definitely the best goal setting tip available to you today.

“Wanting” is one thing, “having a burning desire” is a completely different thing altogether.

Have you ever experienced something that is so painful you want it so badly?

Once you’ve established the desire, then the rest follows without too much of a problem. Yes, you will come across obstacles that will get in the way, things that will hinder you in your quest to reach your goals, but you need to expect that in goal setting. If life was easy, you wouldn’t ever aim for certain aspirations.

No 1 Goal setting tip – time to figure out if you’ve got what it takes!

The only way to know whether you have a strong burning desire is to see how you would feel if you didn’t achieve your dream?

  • Might you be doing a business in your spare time that will eventually give you the freedom to hand in your notice in your day job? (How badly do you want this, and can you feel this desire from the bottom of your stomach?).
  • How badly do you want to be promoted in your job, or do you really care?
  • What does it mean to be first in your athletics or sports goals? Or is it just a hobby?
  • Do you have your own business, and if so, how badly do you want it to be turning over $X next year, or are you just happy with the way it plods along?

I’m trying here to get you to think about what really matters to you. Why not just take some time out to think about the “ burning desire”.

In everyday life things go wrong, things don’t work out as planned, and if you don’t have that particular desire to carry on through thick and thin, the goals gradually disappear, and you end up where you started, not really believing you can set goals, not believing in yourself, and the self confidence you had begins to wane. That is why goal setting doesn’t work for most people and why it's important to get it right.  Understanding the importance of goal setting will help your thought processes.

Wishy washy goal setting just doesn’t work. Why do I keep saying this? Because I know from experience that it doesn’t work. Once you discover you have a burning desire, you will never look back. You will begin to understand why I believe this is so important.

I have a burning desire, what next?

If you already have the desire, you then need to make sure you keep on track, and what better way to do that than have a good, honest, reliable goal setting program?

Desire is one thing, organisation is another, and most people will tell you that they start their goal setting process with good intentions, only to fall by the wayside because they have no plan of action, or no system in place to track their progress. Goal Management is another top goal setting tip.

Knowing exactly where you are and what you have achieved will keep you on the right road to success.

You don't want to get diverted.  It's incredibly easy to waste time and procrastinate, so if you have an easy to use program in front of you, you're streets ahead of the majority of others.

However, at the end of the day, without my TOP TIP - DESIRE - you won't go far.  Find that burning desire, right from the bottom of your belly, to motivate and focus you.
